I found this tough little cactus growing at the Hell’s Gate rest stop in Death Valley National Park.
I love photography! When creating a photograph I'm looking for lines, shapes, colors, positions and relationships amongst all that is before the camera. I also love finding the right blend of light and dark, as well as near and far visual interest for each photograph I make. I've been blessed to live my whole life in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, California. This truly is a magnificent place! One of the challenges of fine photography in Death Valley is in conveying the utter vastness. I’ve visited many times but cannot tell specifically where you stood to take this shot - but the incorporation of the foreground cactus and rocky outcropping accentuates the great depth beyond. Love this image, and the place! L/f

Thanks for your comment Joe. Yes, I agree about trying to capture a feel for Death Valley in a photograph. I got this view from the Hell’s Gate area, looking south toward Badwater.
